The [Discovery Sale which closes on May 1, 2024](https://bid.alexcooper.com/auctions/1-8YNMQ3/railroad-crossing-discovery-auction-closing-may-1st-2024), will include a rare and interesting selection of film memorabilia, comprising lots [5800 ](https://bid.alexcooper.com/lots/view/1-8YO52F/selection-of-buster-keaton-movie-ephemera)through [5874](https://bid.alexcooper.com/lots/view/1-8YO56J/four-vintage-movie-posters).

The collector had a deep appreciation for the comic actors of the Silent Film and Golden eras, including [Buster Keaton](https://bid.alexcooper.com/auctions/1-8YNMQ3/railroad-crossing-discovery-auction-closing-may-1st-2024?limit=36&search=buster+keaton), [Laurel & Hardy](https://bid.alexcooper.com/auctions/1-8YNMQ3/railroad-crossing-discovery-auction-closing-may-1st-2024?limit=36&search=Laurel+%26+Hardy), and [Fatty Arbuckle](https://bid.alexcooper.com/auctions/1-8YNMQ3/railroad-crossing-discovery-auction-closing-may-1st-2024?limit=36&search=Fatty+Arbuckle). Accordingly, he amassed an amazing array of ephemera, promotional stills from movies, lobby cards, and posters. Many of the items in the collection were produced just for the moment – candy and tobacco packaging, vending machine cards, or promotional hand-outs at the theatres. The vast majority were thrown away at the time, yet the few that survive are fascinating. The graphics are nostalgic and often compelling. They evoke a classic period in our cultural history. See some wonderful examples of what Alex Cooper is offering below.
