Train & Toy Collection

Written by Alex Cooper Staff | Mar 24, 2017 12:00:00 AM

With our specialty train and toy auction open for bidding, I sat down with resident expert Jamey Levinson and asked him, “what are you favorite lots and why?”

1). Lot 8031 – Very fine Lionel Postwar 773 Hudson and Tender

Lot 8031 is one of the finest locomotives that Lionel produced in the post war era. It is highly detailed, illustrating all of the impressive features of the train and tender. Most importantly this lot has the original boxes and master carton. Showing just how it came from the Lionel factory.

2). Lot 8001 – Lionel 2383 Santa Fe F3’s

Lot 8001 is one of the most iconic streamline trains from the post war era. The bright and vibrant colors of the Santa Fe are the most desirable trains from this time.

3). Lot 8034 – Lionel Street Lamps and Accessories

Lot 8034 features quintessential New York City street lamps and other pre-war accessories. Each item comes with its own Lionel original box. All of the lamps and accessories are extremely lifelike and detailed, making them the perfect accompaniment to any train set.

4). Lot 8035 – Two Lionel #60 Trolleys

Lot 8035 is particularly special because it reminds me of my late Uncle Alvin’s collection of trolleys. My Uncle taught me to appreciate vintage toys and sparked my interest into collecting trains. What makes trolleys special is their bumper controlled forward and reverse operation.

5). Lot 8094 – Ives 3242 Wide Gauge Red Passenger Set

Nothing compares to Ives wide gauge trains. The attention to detail far exceeds the common train – down to the hand painted window curtains on the passenger cart. This is a very special set.

Our online-only Train & Toy Auction is open for bidding March 22nd – April 4th.

The auction includes an estate collection of Lionel trains and accessories and vintage toys and figures. This auction is particularly special because it’s the culmination of a lifetime collector’s private estate that has never been brought to the public market. It also features a vast array of conditions from the fixer uppers to the collector’s items. This sale has something for everyone.

Jamey Levinson has been a lifetime collector of vintage trains and toys; specializing in Lionel trains and cast iron toys.
