Contemporary Craft Collection

A definition of the word “craft” states:  objects made skillfully with purpose, such as a bowl for eating or a bench for sitting. Contemporary crafts are marked by innovation and design.  They tend to allude to a functional purpose though they are often handled and exhibited in ways similar to visual art objects. Traditionally made with wood, glass, ceramics, textiles or metal, these beautiful handcrafted items have strikingly unique and modern designs that are truly one of a kind.

Offered in our August 1-3 auction is a large contemporary craft collection belonging to the late Helen Canzoneri. A prominent collector, Canzoneri amassed an impressive collection by many well known and accomplished studio craft artists. Her collection includes works by: Gary Beecham, Chris Buzzini, Wendell Castle, Dale Chihuly, Harvey Littleton, Philip Moulthrop, Mark Peiser, Cynthia Schira, Kay Sekimachi, Olga de Amaral, Paul Stankard, Bob Stocksdale, Lino Tagliapietra, Lenore Tawney and many more.
