Mad About Modern Art

When we talk about Modern Art, we are referencing the period of art that extends from the 1860’s into the 1970’s.  Modern Art is art that moved away from the stylistic traditions of the past into a phase of true experimentation.  When we see an abstract painting today it is not shocking as we have become accustomed to the genre.  But, can you imagine how revolutionary it was the first time it was done?  These artists moved away from what the world really looked liked (realism) to depicting what the world looked and felt to them.  It was groundbreaking.  I’ve spent my career focused on Modern and Contemporary Art, exploring these ideas and interpretations of the artists.  At Alex Cooper, we consistently offer our buyers an amazing selection of Modern Art to add to their collections.  This auction we are particularly excited about the Nakashima Collection featured and the synergy created between these pieces and the art of the same time period.  The following works are Modern Art highlights of the June sale and cannot be missed.
